Ok it looks like it maybe time to replace my batteries, I ve got 78000 and 3 1/2 years on them. with just the headlamps on and no heater grid or anything else on the voltage steadily drops pretty quickly. well, what brand is everybody using, is optima the way to go?They work great in my boat.

excellent track record with batteries Sam's club stock. great prices too!

no fuss warranties on batteries that went dead from sitting. lead acid cells sulfides when charge goes down, permanently damaging cells. this is in no way fault of battery.

I would like to try the Autozone brand yellow tops Duralast. I hear great things about them + they have a great warranty.

I loved my optima(sold that vehicle with the battery), but for the price of one, you can get two batterys and still have extra for performance mods!

Which Odyssey is the drop in or can you fit a bigger one with minor mods?

Interstate

Got 5 years out of the OEM Interstates on my 2nd gen Dodge, added distilled water and recharged after rebuilding the starter contacts. Replaced them with the MegaTron Plus and never had an issue $95 each at an Interstate dealer. Truck was always outside and always cranked over.

I have not looked into them yet for the CTD. I still have the stock batteries and so far, they are doing fine. I would give West Coast a call and see what they say. I have been running dual Odyssey's in the rock-crawler for five years and have never had a dead battery and sometimes it sits for 2-3 months at a time.

I used to run Optima’s but the last red top I got gave up the ghost at less then two years. The place I bought it from gave me a new one and I turned around and sold it.

There are lots of complaints on the quality of Optimas going downhill. I do hear good things about Oddyessy, but the early one had issues with the terminals breaking when tightened to much.

Optimas good for hard/rough usage like a boat or Baja car etc.Otherwise buy good quality what ever else.

I have looked at the auto zone batteries and they seem to have the best warranty, I also like the interstates, but I am having a hard time finding them at a resonable price locally. most of the parts stores want full retail. not bad unless you need 2 batteries.

The ONLY thing I have bought from Auto Zone is batterys. In the last few years for LQ horse trailer(2) tractor(1) one car and one truck(1 each)Their easy to deal with, have what I needed and a decent price.Lot better then riding 50 miles hunting a Interstate store and Wally World is out of the question.
