Barely Using My Truck

Because of my work schedule my truck has been sitting 2 weeks to a month at a time. I'll be moving soon and won't have anywhere to put the truck so I'm leaving it in a friends garage for a year or so. I'll probably drive it 5 times over the course of the next year. What do you guys think about this for the long term health of the engine (ie cylinder walls)? I can get out to drive it a lot more often if I have to but it would be really inconvenient.

As long as the batteries hold out, it will be fine.

If you are in a dry climate every couple of months should be fine. Always run it up to full operatring temp. Good to circulate the gear oil in the trans and rear ends.

Another good idea if you have any possible rodent issues like mice is to put an open box of mothballs under the hood. I had mice eat plug wires on an RV once. Granted we don't have plug wires but still plenty of rubber parts to gnaw on. And a friend had mouse droppings in his heater box. Mothballs do the trick.

You might invest in a battery tender to keep the batteries hot. Like the others have said, run it up to temp and drive it to keep everything else lubed. Tranny seals dry out too.

The way that cars depreciate, would it make more sense to sell it and buy it back in a year or whenever your ready? Paying interest and depreciation is never fun for something your not really using.
