Bad Pump???
Bad Pump???
Took the dodge into the dealer b/c of a fuel leak. they said the pump is bad, they want to charge me $1400 bucks to fix it!!! What would cause this to happen?? Anyone else have this problem??
I just don't understand why some of these dealers try so hard to get out of warranty work.
Seems like since it is not out of thier own pocket, they would like the customer to be happy with them.
A few dealers or I should say techs have learned to get quiet about such and take care of the customer and make some coin.Only way D.c. knows it has anything is if the TECH tells them when he calls STAR to get that part etc.
Well here's the story now, they said they will turn it into warrenty, but if DC calls and ask if the truck had a chip or anything, then my dealer is going to say yes. Then it would come out of my check book. I told the if they wernt so God dang stupid (nicely put), they would understand the there IS NO PROGRAMER ON THE TRUCK!!! Whats the differnce if i had the outlook, or mech guages, nothing, they just don't say BullyDog on them. I'm going up there today and its not going to be pretty, i'l let you know what happens.
Also, why would a fuel leak mean that the hole pump is bad?? Truck still runs fine?? or will the pump just sooner or later die??

Proberly internal o/ring seals in the the pump halves leaking.Dealer will only replace. There is posts about opening the pump.Matching up o/rings but a tad thicker, not bigger around, replacing them and no leaks.Let them replace it.I bet with a part number with a 'R" in it meaning a REMAN.Which may be better then a 'NEW" one.Do a SEARCH ought to be some reading in archives about such.
Well just got back from the dealer, i picked the truck up, b/c i'm going to need it this weekend. Thery're going to risk it and cover it, but it still might come back on us. Then if it does, they told us to call the customer service, to get something done about it. I don't care, i told them. This is a company(me & dad's) truck he has a 06 D-max, I have the dodge. In the past, my dad has bought 7 brand new Dodge's from this dealer. Like we told them, this is why we do buy them, b/c you guys help us out. Well not anymore.
The truck only has 32k on it, i hate to see what kind of probs we will have at 100k miles. So i hate to say this fellow's, but it looks like next week the Dodge is up for sale, and we get to go look at the new D-max's. Don't give me too hard of a time, i still have my 98. But i think its time to move on to something new for my work truck!!-Chris

If their doing it under warranty it won't kick back.Just trying to make you nervous IF your running a fueling box and fudging. It would be DENIED from the get go if they called it in and said THERES A fueling box on the truck.Enough of these have leaked that it might NOT be a STAR auth.part anymore.Once its on its a done deal.No way to tell WHAT caused the leak other then the same old deal. From the internal o/rings in it.Whomever at the dealer is blowing smoke.Tell him to toke another one and blow it somewhere else after its on.Instead of scaring you and hacking you off THEY could have said hey no problem but by chance if had a fueling box on there it could be a real hassel next or such. There have been a few replaced more then once over leaking.Usually a weather change(cold) it seems to cause them to leak.
