Bad fuel pump? Warrenty????

Went to pick up my 03 at the dealer (was having rust repair done on rear quarter) and didn't make it past the front door. The truck died and won't start. I opened the drain on the fuel filter and very little fuel came out. Heard the pump trying to prime, at least the electric noise, tried to start it several times and nothing. opened filter drain again and not even a quarter cup of fuel came out. Fuel pump gone or something else? the tank was full.
If it is the pump should i have them do the conversion with the pump in the tank or install an air dog or another after market pump?

Sounds like pump died.If under warranty and you don't hot rod it or do so very little get the updated in tank pump on Chrysler. That item is under the Engine Fuel system warranty that is 7/100 with no deductable until years 6 and 7.

Got a call from the dealer today and the said the fuel pump was ok, but the flow actuator valve was probably bad. They want $700 to replace it and that it is not under warranty. Is this part not covered? I have little options but to tell them to fix it and if this valve isn't whats wrong I screwed anyway. The next thing they would replace is the cp3 and thats warranted if that valve doesn't solve the problem. The valve is the high pressure flow valve??? and shouldn't it be covered if it is part of the fuel system?

Sure sounds like it should.Never seen a post or mention of that valve ever.Sounds fishy.Sounds like pump died.CP3 is way AFTER the filter housing.Takes getting fuel to the filter housing to run.The crappy pump is what draws fuel to the filter housing.Sounds and smells fishy to me.

Good news!!! The dealer tried to replace that valve and it didn't fix the problem. They called me and said that they were going to replace the cp3 and now I would only be responsible for the 100 deductible.

You might want to check your warranty book. There has been alot of dispute over the $100 deductable. You might not have to pay it, but the dealer will argue that you do, till DC calls them or you show them the book.

If your under warrenty and it was a fuel component that failed it is covered either by the engine warrnty or the emmisions warrenty either way it should be covered with in the warrenty period.
the $100 deductable will come into play after 5 years or so many miles.
Read your warrenty book it will detail what you have to pay.
Sounds like your dealer is trying to make some cash off you.

Well I bought the truck in June of 03 so I just passed the 5 year mark, so this would mean that I would have to pay the 100 deductible??

The in service date is the date to the first owner. Is what they go by.So it sounds like its a $100 deduct.
