Your insurance company is bluffing you. You're covered under your comprehensive. Get your sample tested and give the results to your insurance company. They'll try and shake down the oil company. Hopefully you saved your receipt or put it on your credit card. Good luck!

x2 and if they cover it which they should dont let chrystler screw you on cost of parts you can go buy everything you need and the parts will carry the same warranty as what they would have put on and only cost a 1/3 of what they would have charged just pay there labor charge. We had a friend do this a few months back and the dealer was ****** he screwed there system but couldn't do anything about it because insurance company cut him a check.

Bad Fuel + P0088 HELP!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well MY 04.5 Dodge started hard and was running real bad the other mourning. So I shut her down and had it towed to the dealer because it still under warrenty. Well they call today and said I had bad fuel and my whole fuel system needs to be replaced for a grand total of $12,000

I just filled up the other day and ran fine for 3 days and then bam!!
I guess what I'm asking is what do I do now? Dodge won't warrenty it and my Insurence won't cover it. Is there any way to make the gas station pay?

And if that fails whats the first things I need to do to fix it myself?
I'm pretty good with my hands and gas engines but I have never touched a diesel. So Any help would be great thanks.

It also throwing p0088 code witch is high fuel rail pressure So whats next?

i just went through the exact same thing. dont freak its pretty easy to fix. i personally had water so i took my tank down, cleaned it out, changed to an airdog 100 (imo might as well take it apart once) and ended up doing 1 injector and im done. about 800 in parts and a saturday and im running like new.

I had the same issue with my truck about 2 years ago. Dealership told me same thing. $12000 for new fuel system. I told them they are nuts. They said if I didn't do they would void my warranty. I had 91000 miles at that time as it was so I had them replace the FCA, and flush the tank. Its been running just fine ever since. I tried the insurance company route also, but that was no luck. I wish you luck.

Another update. Well the dealer called and ordered 2 more parts to help solve the problem and their hoping all goes well. They said its a strange problem they have never encountered before. I'm going to call them and try to get them to flush the system out and refill with new fuel and see what happens then so far the new dealer has covered everything.
