j body they had the axles supported by jacks but as you stated even though there is the weight there is no drag of the road and so forth so i don't think they are getting an accurate display. i've tried to tell them about those connections that i've seen on here but to no avail.

I put a 3-position switch on my slushbox so I can lockup the TC, lockup OD or both.

No more hunting!

BONUS. You got a new rear.

Really though, that is a shame for them. They should have some better diagnostic skills than that.

I've noticed the same thing and I have a strong hunch that it's an easy fix. I recently adjusted my bands and found a procedure in the service manual for adjusting the throttle input to the tranny.

I noticed mine hunting from 1-2 ans 2-3 after enabling the low power feature on my Bully Dog. I was able to drive around it but it was annoying. With the truck flashed back to stock the problem goes away and the tranny shifts better. When flashed for power, it doesn't take as much throttle to get the same amount of acceleration and I believe it screws with the tranny. This easily explains why more throttle makes the problem go away...throttle position controls the way it shifts. I'm still toying with this idea but I think I'm on to something. There's even a cause listed in the troubleshooting section stating...

"Gearshift Linkage/Cable Mis-adjusted."...as a cause for SHIFTS DELAYED OR
ERRATIC (SHIFTS ALSO HARSH AT TIMES)

I'm going to play with the adjustment and report back.

I found it...

THROTTLE VALVE CABLE
DESCRIPTION
Transmission throttle valve cable (Fig. 222) adjustment is extremely important to proper operation. This adjustment positions the throttle valve, which controls shift speed, quality, and part-throttle downshift sensitivity.
If cable setting is too loose, early shifts and slippage between shifts may occur. (That describes my problem exactly) If the setting is too tight, shifts may be delayed and part throttle downshifts may be very sensitive.
The transmission throttle valve is operated by a cam on the throttle lever. The throttle lever is operated by an adjustable cable (Fig. 223). The cable is
attached to an arm mounted on the throttle lever shaft. A retaining clip at the engine-end of the cable is removed to provide for cable adjustment. The
retaining clip is then installed back onto the throttle valve cable to lock in the adjustment.

The above also easily explains why mine is more prone to it on hotter days when the tranny is hot....a cheesy cable will stretch when hot.

TV cable was done away with in either 05 or 06. It changed to a ECM controlled motor to control the psi. If you are familiar with old school torqflights you'll be familiar with the kickdown lever above the shift arm. That lever has been eliminated and there is a black cylinder in it's place with wiring.

Mine is an 05 and I have an 05 manual. Didn't notice what year the original poster has but I remember the old vacuum operated kickdowns. I think these units are more complex though and control more than the downshift with heavy throttle. If you look 3 posts up there's an operational description.

I traded an 06 Auto for a 06 Manual and there are no tears here!! I will probably never buy a Automatic unless they become the only option!

I've never owned an auto until this one and I have to admit I miss the manual sometimes. Overall I like the auto though. Much nicer in traffic. Only downfall in my opinion is that they've become so complicated that they act funny when more power is thrown at them...modding a modern auto-powered CTD without changing the way the tranny reacts to it, is almost pointless.

see i've been thinking that it may have to do with a throttle position sensor or something along those lines simply because i can control when it does it by the position of the throttle. i just want this fixed it's going on two weeks without my truck and i'm still making payments
