Automatic Trans Service

I'd like to do a fluid and filter change on my '04. Can't seem to find an aftermarket source for ATF+4 and the filter/gasket kit. Are these available aftermarket? My auto parts guy said he checked every warehouse he deals with & no one has them. I want genuine ATF+4, not something close.

How many quarts of fluid will I need? Just want to do the simple change, not a flush. How much per quart will the dealer want? What will the filter and gasket kit cost?

TIA

As far as I know, Dealership is the only source of ATF+4, other than Amsoil, if you want to go that route.

Yes, that is a violation of some law, requiring a fluid you can only get from them.

OK, so I have to go to the dealer for fluid and filter/gasket. Anyone know how many quarts of fluid I need or how much this stuff will cost me?

IIRC
Mopar filter is about $16. You will drop about 7 quarts of fluid out of the pan. Mopar ATF+4 is about $16/gallon. Gasket re-usable.

The filter is held in by two medium sized TORX head bolts. I had to search for the right size and was very happy to find it in my tool box. First time I ever used it.

As posted the gasket is reusable. I got 6.5 quarts out of mine recently. I paid $14.50/gal for the mopar atf from the dealer, don't remember how much the filter was but the dealer wasn't really that expensive.

FWIW I saw Mopar ATF +4 for sale at a Murray's auto parts store when I was in Chicago recently. However, it was in quarts and was way more expensive than the dealership.
