Question Automatic Tranny question??

I just got my new truck yesterday and was wondering if I need to put the tranny in tow/haul in town?

I understand how my old tranny work with the OD, which needs to be out of OD in town and in OD over 55 to 60 mph. Just wondering if is the same on the 48re '05 model.

Nah leave it in normal mode, tow-haul mode when you tow.

My 03 has the OD off button instead of saying Tow/Haul. I believe they are the same just wording changed. This would probably be personal preference for many. I choose to run in direct 3rd gear running around town or say when posted mph is in the 35 to 45 mph range keeping the rpm up above the 1500 mark. I have heard others say keeping a higher rpm above the 1500 mark is better fluid flow on the trans. Also I get a feeling of lugging the engine in OD running slower speeds. This may not be the case, but I feel more comfortable running in direct 3rd this way. I have not had any loss of mileage either.

It is my understanding that with the 05s the tow haul button does not block out OD, it makes the trans hold gears longer.

Thanks guys, just making sure I don't screw anything up. On my old truck I finally got the wife trained taking the OD off in town. Now for the training all over again.

Thanks again.
