I have been on the fence about buying one of these. I have a mark on my oil pan that I can see somewhere along the way I hit something. This concerns me taking the truck off road where the valve will be the lowest point of the pan and could VERY easly snap off.

That is my concern with using them as well, hitting and animal or running over something while off road and busting it off, then instead of just having a dent or mark you are left stranded.

All the trucks in our fleet will register low on the stick if you check them right away, but will show at the full mark after about 15 minutes. We've had a few drivers that weren't aware of that and overfilled the crankcase a little. Makes a nice mess underneath cause the engine pushes the excess out of the vent tube over time. The oil seems to take it's time going back down to the pan .
Walmart will never get another oil change out of me. When going to get groceries it was always convenient to get the wife's SUV's oil changed while we shopped. This summer when I went to change the oil in my truck I decided I would just change the oil in her SUV as well. When I pulled the drain plug on her's I noticed a bunch of blue silicone around the drain plug and drain pan. Upon further inspection I noticed that the plug was close to being stripped but also that a thin metal washer that is permanently attached to the drain plug was bent and beat to hell. Ended up getting a new drain plug and all has been good since.

Upon our next visit to Walmart I took the drain plug into the auto center and promptly chewed them a new you-know-what and ensured them that they would never seen another of my cars. I'm not even sure though that the person working behind the counter could get their one brain cell to register what I was telling them.

You really have to be careful and check if you let someone touch your vehicle, no matter what it's being touched for. Lugs nuts left off/stripped. People don't care. I had the wifes brake rotors turned at a brake shop across from where I work. I watched them the whole time to make sure they were doing it right and I looked at the calipers myself. On the other side of the shop, the guy twisted off 3 of 5 lug nuts and sent the unaware driver on his way. Thankfully, this driver did stop and check and came back to confront them about it. The broken lugs were still laying on the shop floor. The manager of the shop ended up chewing the customer out for having crappy lug nuts. My brother worked part time for a local guy that just expanded recently from all the new business. My brother had to quit because of the immoral stuff this guy does. Just about every oil drain plug got stripped and clear silicone'd back in. His guys actully use air tools on all drain plugs. He sold people new parts and saved the old parts and sold them to the next person as new parts. The one story my brother tells the most is the one about a guy with a chevy truck that he broke the oil filler cap and after filling it with oil, he epoxy'd it in place, making it forever sealed and the valve cover now would have to come off to add oil. It's mind boggling to know what kind of business practices he has yet hes still growing and expanding.

lol great oil change up there for the men and women.

I installed a Fumoto drain last oil change. I look forward to using it the next time. Should be pretty easy to fill my draining jugs that I take to auto zone to dump.

For the concerns about the Fumoto hanging down, it was my concern to. But it won't be hit unless you fall over or drag over a steep sharp drop off where you'll land on your oil pan. The front diff hangs lower so it protects it from the front.

That has not happened but one time and I raise so much hell they all know better then to not grease it to tell me its not there as they know that I will get under the truck to check to see if it was greased or not.

I lay a sheet of plastic on the garage floor before I start. I hate that inevitable black oil splatter on the concrete. I put a mark on the plastic and fold it up then use it again. The mark is for "this side up."
