anyone use ACU TEMP Trans ADAPTER???

Has anyone used this adapter for their transmission? Its from Geno's garage. It's for my father's truck (05) and the ding dongs who installed his trans temp gauge, tapped into the factory sending unit . (I'm SURE they calibrated the unit...)

Used one on my dad's 06 and it works great. The dealer around here isn't very nice and said if we put on a line and introduced contamination into the trans then they would void warranty. One thing I did though was put electrical tape where the hose clamp goes around the line so it doesn't cut into it. Obviously didn't put any tape between the aluminum contact and the line though.

Thanks, tried to call Geno's but it says their toll free number is not in service. (maybe a Canadian thing?)

I have an account there and just place my orders online. I've never tried to call.

What kind of trans temp guage?

I have been looking at the Acu Temp also - would like to add a trans temp guage but don't want to cut a line or anything that could void the warranty.

What type of trans temp guage did you use with the Acu Temp?

What is the temperature range the guage should cover?

My truck is stock and no plans to add performance upgrades - I just want to keep track of the temp in case something ever starts to go wrong.

Before Geno's began carrying the AccuTemp, I fabricated a similar device out of brass. It's been on about 1 1/2 years now and I'm quite satisfied with it. Some have questioned whether it is as accurate as having the probe actually immersed in the tranny fluid flow. It may not be but it's certainly close enough for all practical purposes. The temps I've seen are consistent with those recorded by others on here and on TDR under similar conditions.

As noted, one distinct advantage is that there is no chance of fluid contamination or breach of tranny integrity, therefore the dealer has no basis to challenge warranty coverage.

I used the following things to do trans temp. Dad is pretty picky so I tried to keep it as close to stock as possible. Turned out great.

Had one attached to the hot line now for about 8 months. Couldn't be happier. Works fine, easy install. I used some anti sieze for better heat conductivty. Highly recommend.

Isspro, white face, but I think for me, I like the Autometer Phytom better. I have the ISSPRO for Trans Temp and Boost and the Autometer for PYRO. All mounted in the dash pod, on my 07. I needed the gauges and at the time ISSPRO was back ordered on pyro,s. The ISSPRO matches the factory better, but I can read the autometer easier. Just me.

I used it. It's not as fast reacting as a wet probe, and cools down due to airflow when you're moving over 50 mph. But, in reality, the converter is locked then anyway so it doesn't matter. I was happy with mine, I just switched b/c I could I guess. I have it sitting in the tool box if you're interested.

running one on my 05. i like it, it was quick and easy to install and doesnt involve splicing any of the factory lines. i think it gives a decent readout. i think its alittle pricey but whatever.
