yikes.. you're right there's substantial weight differences between the two. so it's back to before and after a free spin hub kit is installed.

why is there so much differences in what folks are getting?
the EMS folks claim 2-4 mpg gains, but was telling me about one strange case of someone getting a 10 mpg increase. which I don't buy..

there's a waiting list for EMS kits... they are out for another 30 days or so.

I've honestly not remembered to hand calc a tank on my new hubs yet. I was getting about 19-21mpg on average before the hubs. That's almost all highway going to work on 40's with 1800rpms the whole way (In the city, she drinks the fuel). I've got 15 or so tanks of fuel logged to compare to when I do finally get the courage to calculate it again.

I will say that the steering and feel of the truck is so much more smooth. I love it.

I have mine. I just figure the $$$ was a piece of mind that I put the best available. I will blow something else before the hubs. I also put in the universal joints form Dynotrac as they claim they are better then factory.

I run them unlocked all the time...i have tried a few tanks with them locked and saw no difference.

The only mileage difference i have seen from any of my mods was the smarty jr. and the helix II.

Free spin hubs are still worth it for the peice of mind and 2wd low to me

Oh ya...i usually get between 16-18 mpg unloaded 25% city 75% hwy.
