Dealer was going to enable the high idle for me but said it couldnt be done, yet....

Anyone know if and how its possible. The dealer will do it as soon as they figure it out.

This is a complete guess but...it should be in the PTO section...that's where it was in 2001 and 2005 at least (on the auto's it was called high idle or something but on trucks with nv5600 it was in the section dealing with the PTO or it was called PTO idle control or something like that). However this was 2005 so that's just a guess. From what I've heard on the 2500's you can't enable it with the G56 but I'm guessing you should be able to with the 3500 because it conceivably could be a tow truck/rollback...unless they are now expecting you to get a 4500/5500.

I wonder why. Or more importantly, how?

Two seperate dealers whom I know to be decent dealers have said that it isnt possible (yet) on the 2010 and 2011. They would be more than happy to do it if possible.

Ive even read that the H&S has a setting available for the 2010's but it doesnt even use the cruise, it uses the Max's display, and it was stated by H&S that factory high idle on with the G56 is not possible.

Don't know how it is working but it is, the same as my 06. Really didn't expect it to work with the g56.

Question

Don't you still need the clutch kit which allows the high idle to work with the manual? I had to install such a kit on my '06 to get the high idle to work. Back then both Cummins and the dealer sold the kit......

Not sure. Trying to find out what it would even take to get it down but no one (dealershipwise) has any answers.

Are you talking about high idle when it's cold or actually controlling the idle speed with the cruise control?

fyi it's useful when it's cold or when you'll be extended idling to keep the temps up to normal...

Do you guys have to have the emergancy brake depressed to active the high idle. I use mine to cool the truck down as well after towing heavy, on a hot day. Helps cool stuff off, if you turn off the air conditioning.

I don't like shutting anything off after being worked hard.
