Are you talking about the anti-spin additive or the oil?

The gear lock style anti spin, do NOT have clutches. so you dont need that additive.

Yeah, not in the AAM axles. How could the dealer be that clueless?

Agreed, I am having a rear end problem right now and looked into that as well, NO CLUTCHES, took it apart and checked myself.

Doesn't have clutches but it has brake shoes with a friction material that operates like the clutches. Frequently one will get a chatter on corners out of the AAM anti-spin with certain lube oils. Adding ONE bottle of the anti-spin additive will generally solve the problem.

Two bottles are for the Dana clutch types and the dealer is evidently a little behind the info curve on the axles.

Dealer will tell you the same thing most of the time. Certain lubes WILL cause chatter.

If you have a problem, add 1 bottle of friction modifier and test again.

Can't make it much clearer than that.

Let me see if I can help.

The AAM axles do not use the additive. That's for the older Dana axles with trac-loc or whatever they call their limited slip.

However, if you begin to experience some chattering in the AAM anti-spin, you can add the additive to help with it. I began to get some chattering in mine and switched to 85-140 oil to fix it.

The chattering happens just as you start out from a stop with the front wheels turned. And most likely on a hill or while towing. The diff is trying to lock and chatters.

i always use a little brake when i get going so the "bias" locks the "locker" that way i dont have to get going fast for the "locker" to kick in.
