All diesel Dodge truck since 2003 have been using American Axle diffs. The only truck that were not are the 1500 Ram. Trac-Rite diffs function as a limited slip.
When one wheel begins to spin the pinion gears (2) on that side, are forced toward the pinion brake shoes (1). The pinion brake shoes then cause frictional drag on the opposite pinion gears and the side gear. These friction forces transfer the power to the opposite wheel. Once the frictional forces are overcome, differentiation will occur. The torque will be continually biased by the frictional forces to the high traction wheel.

Hmmmm? All I know is that I have one wheel in back that spins and nothing more. Ever! I want both to spin or locking rear differential.

Then you most likely have a problem with the Trac-Rrite. It should transfer power to the wheel with the most traction. make sure you have the proper lubricant Trac-Rite require Mopar SAE 75W-90 (GL-5) synthetic lubricant part number 05102232AA only. DO NOT add friction modifier to the lubricant in these axles.

I just had truck in at dealership to have all fluids changed and they mentioned nothing wrong with differential. Even though when I back out of drive and put in drive it only spins right rear tire on ice. The left never engages.

All Anti-Spin?

I don't think all trucks came with anti-spin. My truck had that box checked and it cost an extra $285.

There are a couple of services that will get you the original build sheet. You can search the forum to find them. If yours didn't come with it, a locker is your best choice.

That's what I thought. How much and what kind of Locker?

Yeah, my 2003 didn't have anti-spin. My last and current trucks have if though, definitely notice the difference.

My 2006 does the same… IMO these limited slip axels are crap. The only time mine will lock-up is when it really isn’t needed… stuff like burning off on pavement or playing in gravel both rear wheels lock fine. But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to engage 4WD just to get going when one side is on snow/ice and the other side is on dry pavement. It will just roll backwards as the side on ice spins.

If one wheel has zero traction (like ice), the factory LSD is worthless.
The easy fix is to lightly apply the brakes, which will help transfer power to the wheel with traction.

Once you figure out how it works, it's a good setup and works great IMHO.

Good tires, at the right pressure for the conditions, will do wonders.

Maybe you need a truck with traction control. I agree with pronstar tap the brakes to transfer traction to the other wheel. That's exactly what traction control does but with out driver intervention.

I've spent hours over several winters trying every recommendation on this... tapping the breaks, setting the parking break... it's always the same result. Regarding tires; I have done this using three different treads... GY Duratrac, Toyo MTs, BFG T/As, psi @ 40 - 50 - 60... doesn't change the result. Also had the dealer and my indy shop check my axle when I had fluid changed... they said all is per spec. I love my truck but the axle is crap!!!!
