The whole premise of my statements on fuel pumps is to run a (altogether now) high pressure, fuel cooled tough fuel injection type lift pump. And I've stated over and over why that is technically a better solution than a low pressure, high flow, air cooled vane type carburetor pump.

And EVERY time I make that statement, along comes another guy with a carburetor type pump that says it is just as good. It happens time and time again. And it just isn't so. I've explained pump power, motor current capability explained cooling, pressure capabilities, etc. I've "blown" long and hard about all this stuff. And yet people will still state that the carburetor pumps are just as good.

A guy posted just this moring in the "What is so great about FASS" about how a NAPA pump (for which he probably doesn't have a curve) wouldn't feed his Duramax and yet a Holley did. Translation: Holley pumps are better than EFI pumps. This kind of reasoning just won't die unless someone fights it.

Yesterday in the "Implementing a Walbro" thread a guy posts that he gets 75K per Carter pump. Like they are a good pump and should be used. OK. Now how many miles would you get from a Walbro or a Bosch ? What other vehicle's lift pump is celebrated when it gets 75,000 miles ?

I didn't expect lift pump discussions to get this way. It is like the carburetor lift pump guys have a religious devotion to those pumps. And if they make it 75,000 miles, Hallelujah ! That is a good lift pump. Praise the Lord (and that pump.)

Go do a poll over on a Ford site and see how many lift pumps they are replacing at 75,000 miles. And their lift pumps run at 60 PSI, not 6 PSI.

And yet sure as the sun rises, someone will come on here and tell me how great their 7 PSI Holley is. Uuuggggghhhh.
You have made your point!! How long will you keep beating a dead horse. coobie

Hey Coobie, I don't mean any offense to you or anyone else here.

This is SD's thread. He started it. If you don't like it, don't read it, and certainly don't bother responding to it.

Some of us agree. Some of us don't. It's not a dead horse, just a matter of opinion.

Again, no offense to you. I always enjoy reading all your posts.

No offense taken!!A far as opinion some folks need to be more open minded and think that there opinion is not the only one that makes sense,There are other options out there besides superdutys pump. You also might want to check some other dodge web-sites and check out how superduty brow beats other folks opinons and came back hear to brag about it.To bad the moderator deleted his posts here.coobie

SD- I agree with you completely. As a diesel tech, I can't believe how many Dodge elec. lift pumps I've replaced, and how few Ford ones. I'm glad my own is a 12 valve, anyway.

Like I said on a "related topic"; some folks don't want to be confused with the facts when their mind is already made up!!!

I'm just as, if not more so, as opinionated than the next guy on these forums. But I know my limitations and am secure enough to admit when I don't know what the hell I'm looking at or trying to fix!!!!!! There seems to be a bad case of "Napolean Syndrome" going on around here!!!!

I don't get that "feeling" at all Coobie. I read your posts and get valuable info, and I read SuperD's posts with the same opened mind. I know he's a bright guy mechanically, and I don't think anyone should be shutting out people's suggestions, opinions, ideas, etc. That's why I enjoy this sight so much. I even enjoy some contoversy, but ....

sounds like the FASS system is a much easier install than the SD walbro system.some like the expensive easy way others like the cheaper more difficult fab it your self way. i prefer easier but tend to fab myself. if time alows i will save money and build a better system, if not i' buy one pre fabbed. to each his own.

I think the Walbro will be a much easier install than the FASS. Splice the pump at the fuel line on the frame. Install bypass or regulator at cp3. Done. I've read the fass install directions and the install is a bit more than that.
