Amsoil by-pass filter install on 05 3500

I bought a by-bass filter kit from my local Amsoil dealer. said it was easy to install. Right!!. It's easy to install in theory but, where the heck do you mount the filter manifold? the only place I can see is on the frame under the passengers door inboard of my step. and thats right in line with the front tire and I may be to cautious but I can see be out in the middle of no where and breaking my filter off. anyone ever install one of these kits?

Do a little searching here and you will find lots of reading and pictures . Mines mounted right where they recommend on the intake.
Didn't it come with instructions?

the bmk25ea was suppose to be discontinued. it is not a very good idea to use it on a cr. this was one of amsoil's bad ideas. I have a good shop and have converted a bmk25ea mount into a dual fuel filter mount in about one hour but you need a lathe and taps to do it. best to scrap it and get just the bypass filter mount bmk 21

What he said or you will have low oil pressure issues at startup. You will want
the single filter bypass as stated above.

thanks for the info I'll have to see what Amsoil'd return policy is for this filter kit. I know my dealer is less than cooperative.

As others stated the dual remote kit is not recommended on the 03+ trucks. What you want is the BMK21.

Here is where mine is.

The Final word

I talke with the Western division rep for Amsoil who was not even aware that there was a problem with this filter kit. With in 24 hours Steve found an answer and sent me this reply.

XXXX,

In following up on our phone conversation from yesterday, I was able to get AMSOIL’s official technical stance on the use of the BMK25 dual by-pass system.

The BMK25 bypass filtration kit was put together specifically the for the Cummins 5.9L engine. It basically utilizes the same components as the BMK23, however has the exact parts needed for the Cummins engine. A while back we eliminated the kit due to engine oil pressure and check engine light issues. This issue did not exist on all Cummins engines, however we feel that this kit should not be used and instead if the customer wants bypass filtration for them to use the BMK21 kit.

Feel free to share these statements with John Burke if you should decide to desire to return the BMK25 for refund. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to call me.

Steve

Got my oil analysis back today. This is pre-bypass filter. Next 5000 I'll send another one in and see what changed!
