My air condition has been freezing up. anyone else have this problem with a fix for this? 2003 3/4 ton diesel. Also is there a filter on this unit for the air?

Check the freon level. Possibility that's it's low and will cause the evaporator to freeze.

ok i will get it checked to see. The a/c unit will freeze you out of the truck even at idle but when i adjust the temperature it never seems to drop and it eventually just freezes up and stops blowing threw my vents inside the truck. i have to turn the compressor off and let it thaw out then i can turn it back on. I know weird but my brothers 3500 dually does the same thing.

I agree, check the freon level first.

Also, one other thing is maybe your compressor isn't cycling on and off. Mine at idle will cycle and you said your's would freeze you out of the truck. So maybe the clutch isn't kicking in and out like it should. Just my .02

My 03 would do that when it was under warranty. I think the dealer checked the freon level, and relocated the temp probe.

Putting the thing on recirculate seemed to help. I think once it had the moisture out of the air that was in the cab, it wouldn't build up more ice.

TONS OF READING on that subject.Use the SEARCH function and look for SPOOLERS some of mmy posts involved as well as the handle BEEMO posts on ac and on the freezeing up issue.Low freon will most defintly close this as well as a few other issues.

I had the same issue, it wasnt low freon, it was because the drain wasnt draining properly, the dealer put on a L shaped hose at the exit point and it helped a lot but not completely, I still have to use the recirculate position to help melt the coils... Freon level was good.

There is a revised location for moving the fin temp sensor because of freeze up,your dealer is suppose to be aware. Also lots of owners of these trucks have been told over and over that the freon level was ok.It WASN"T ok.All it takes is it to be slightly low and freeze up will occur. So you have TWO issues to deal with on your freezing issue and the drain has nothing to do with it.Use the SEARCH function of this forum and look for old threads and posts with the names Spooler,Beemo and Hounddog. You'll find LOTS of reading and info on ac performance including freezing up. Also make sure to fill out signatures so it shoes up like the rest of us.Year, make .model, gearing etc.
