AFE....to oil or not???
I just got a phone call from my buddy who was at a dealership trying to order a backup AFE filter. They told him the AFE does not need to be oiled. I have had mine about 5 years now, and he has had his at least 4 years. We have always oiled our filters when we clean them. In fact, they came with the cleaner/oil kit when we bought them.
Question....Are our filters just so old that they don't make them anymore? Did they switch to dry filters only nowadays?
I know lots of guys (and gals) run the dry filters, but I thought it was kinda strange the dealership told him not to oil AFEs.
Ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.....Steve

AFE does make the oiled and non-oiled: the no-oil filter is call Pro-Dry filter and is not to be oiled. Clean only with mild detergent and water. The dingy dealership must have got the different filters mixed up. So, if your filter came originally oiled, you should keep oiling it.
