Adjust those bands!

Wow! Serviced my trans today and adjusted the bands as well. All I can say is WOW , what a difference! I found the bands to be wuite a ways out of adjustment. ( I counted the turns to get to the torque setting) I had been having some 1-2 hesitation/stutter . Never really felt like it slipped, but just didn't feel right. Fixed it right up! O.K. I'm done tooting my own horn now!

I am a band adjustment believer....tons of people think it is not needed..
but then one day the trans quits working and the guy cant figure out why..low and behold the band adjustment bolt has become so loose it falls off into the pan..then your not going any where..
but if you don't follow the book you could really screw it up too

Can you give me some input on that band adjustment, i'm having some 1/2 studder on my truck 06 with 26K miles. Let me know the procedure on this, and also, i've read about increasing the line pressure, let me know as much info as you have. Also how much fluid does the tranny hold, i'm gonna up grade to bully dog fluid.
Thanks in advance

I adjusted mine @ 91K and they were right where they were supposed to be. Of course I loosened them up and adjusted them anyway, but absolutely no change in the tranny at all. My tranny shifts like a champ and always has, I was just checking them to be on the safe side.

Hey Chancey,

For the 06 (which is what I have in the megacab version) there is a TSB for 1-2 shift issues. They replace a silenoid valve and it fixed my issues right up. Just wanted to let you know so you don't go adjusting if not needed and may actually be a TSB instead.

So I should pull the bully dog out and bring it in for warrenty service right. and secondly, (TSB) that does stand for technical service bulletin, right. Thanks for all the help, that's the only Issue i've got, that **** bully dog and exhaust, works awesome.
thanks Megacabman

At WOT, I get a very bad hesitation b/w 1 and 2. I have the 47RE and have checked the bands and they were right where they were supposed to be. If I tightened the adjustment bolt up more than stated, would that help to fix this?

Don't suggest a tighter band adjustment. The proper clearance is needed for shift timing, servo travel, and enough clearance so that the band does not drag when it is released. The front band is only on in second.

I did a post a week or so ago on the 1-2 shifting hesitation, cant make up it's mind which one to go into, issue. I changed the governor solenoid and adjusted the front band, and now my trans shifts good and firm where and when it needs to. Thank you to VZ and anybody else who posted to help keep me runnin!
