Additive
OK, I never thought that these things would do harm but I guess I thought wrong, or will they? A lot of people add this stuff and I have to admit that they do make it run better. Other than the Wall ashless 2 stroke oil is there anything better for performance? They keep taking things out of diesel and I don't think they give a rip about any long term effects in the performance or wear department.
The problem is today diesel fuel has a high cetane already there is no need for more cetane boost...Anything over 50-55 cetane is a waste.
Now take a look at Chevrons fuel and the Cetane rating...
http://www.cpchem.com/enu/tds_unsecu...el_summary.pdf
43-47 cetane rating is more than enough cetane for our trucks.
From Cummins...
Cummins Fuel Recommendation:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...4&postcount=67
Cetane defined...
A measure of the starting and warm-up characteristics of a fuel. In cold weather or in service with prolonged low loads, a higher cetane number is desirable. Legislation dictates the Cetane index should be 40 or above.
Current weather is hot and none of us drive around at slow RPM's... So why do you need more Cetane booster???
