Don't be worried about the airbag, just be careful with it. I tied mine off to the column so it wouldn't fall. The whole job took less time than waiting the 10 minutes.

So here is what i've gathered so far. It may or may not work on autos but works on all manuals. It's a 50/50 shot and I think I know why.

I went to the Dodge dealer this moarning and asked them about this. I had them run my VIN # to see all what was needed/what I didn't have to make this work.

Apparently I need a vacuum control, a speed sensor cable and all this other stuff. That all makes sense to me, because why would they add that stuff into a ST edition truck when it will never be used? Poping in 2 switches just seems to easy, atleast for the automatic trucks anyways.

But I did find out that they sell CC kits. $235 for the kit and $140 for the install.

So before I go out and buy the switches to try this. Has anyone on here with a 03 auto tried this? I see a couple of guys in this thread who have done it but they have manuals. Im still sortive baffled why it would work on some autos and not all.?

$375.00 seems like a real reasonable price to have factory cc installed.

Only thing is, I have an auto. All of these people who are saying it works like a charm are driving sticks. Some people are also saying that it's a 50/50 shot for the autos.

I was told by the dealer that I will need a speed control sensor and some other stuff. So who knows if this seemingly simple mod works for autos.

I just did this mod on my 05 automatic,ST three months ago works great.I bought the switches online one was 11.xx the other was 13.xx plus shipping mopar parts from online dodge parts dealer from a google search.took about 30min and a 10mm socket with short extension.Parts were listed as fitting 05-07 rams.wires are already routed to steering wheel spokes, just plug and go.Don't worry about your airbag discharging, with batteries disconnected theres no juice to the acclerometer or trigger.

No such thing as a speed control sensor. Someone is yanking your chain! After putting in the switches, and hooking up the batteries, Start the engine and push the on button. The computer will sense the input and BINGO......cruise......ahhhh. Everything is controlled by the computer on the diesels. No servo to pull the throttle - why? No throttle! The computer makes the changes via injection timing and such to maintain the speed. Good luck. As for the air bag, I would highly recomend getting a static electricity guard from any electronics store. The air bag is basically a bomb ( don't get scared now) and all it needs to ignite it is electricity. Static electricity is enough to do it and most times I don't use the guard, but it could happen. Clip the guard's one end to ground, and wear the other around your wrist. It's a little cumbersome, but it is worth it. Again, good luck.

I will chime in here on a different vehicle. I have a Dodge Neon that Installed factory cruise on and it require a new clock spring hence the steering wheel needed to be removed.

So I would see if you can get a parts list of the items in the kit from the parts department.

You could just pull the air bag before buying anything and check to see if the wiring ends are present where the control buttons would be located and if present just buy the buttons.

The neon required the servo installed under the hood but all the factory neon harnesses have the pigtail connections in the harness so it was install servo and clock spring and go drive.

There is no "KIT" available for the diesel, because all that is needed is the switches. The neon , like you said, required a new clockspring and the servo. On the diesel, there is only one clockspring available whether or not it came with cruise is immaterial. Also, it does not use a servo. I verified all of this thru the dealerconnect website.

So vzdude you have done this to your truck and it worked fine? From looking at your sig im guessing you have a ST also, if so then our trucks should be pretty much identical.

What is a clockspring & what does it do?

When I went to the dealer to check on the switches the parts guy said it will need this this and this. I guess they were trying to yank my chain. Seeing as how some of these parts are not needed for the diesel i'll just buy the buttons and try it. Now that I think about it I can just take the buttons off of my fathers truck, I don't think he'll know the difference(until he drives it)

Didn't do it to mine, but did several when I worked at the dealer. Clockspring is a set of wires wound up like a spring behind the steering wheel. They keep contact for all of the items that need electrical connections in the wheel. Some trucks have radio controls, horn, cruise, and of course the air bag. Like I said before, don't be scared of the air bag, just treat it with respect, and if you can ( for a few bucks ) get a static electricity wrist guard. Just an extra precaution. Let us know how it works!

Nope, they are all the same no matter the options. Only one part number available for all the models of Ram's.

I have done this on two different 03 manual trucks and one 04 auto truck. All you need to do is replace the buttons...nothing else. Works just like people say.
