Truck's like a jack hammer.....

My 2005 just started doing something really annoying to me. It is a 2500 Regular Cab 4X4, 4.10:1 rear, 48RE tranny...Totally stock except snow plow. At 25K miles, I was doing 75 on a highway and hit a bump in the road. Felt like the front driver side was a Jack Hammer. I had to nearly come to a stop to get it to stop. So I slowed it down to 55 or 60, and didn't notice it when hitting bumps. So I cranked it up to 75-80 again, same thing after hitting an expansion joint in a bridge. Is this the infamous "DEATH WOBBLE"? I seem to recall seeing some discussion about sway bar bushings. Need some suggestions before I head to the dealer. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like death wobble

Unfortunantly, I dont have any one answer for you as to how to correct it, many people say different things have caused it/fixed it for them. One thing to check is your alignment, and go for max castor, another is to check bushings and all the bolts on the front end, make sure nothing is loose or just didnt get snugged down well on the assembly line.

Im sure a few guys will come along and offer some more suggestions...

This is Death Wobble and as much NEGATIVE caster that I could get out of the stock ecentric bolts seems to have toned down if not totally eliminated my DW.

Death Wobble caused by front suspension components prematurely worn out from extra weight of snow plow.

mine were gone at 27 k, no snow plow. bought the track bar after dc did the front end for me, and put on new tires, death wobble gone, for the most part, but I still gotta put in the track bar. Waiting for the hub bearings to go and get them done too by dc, and then in goes the track bar. looking at teh bilsteins at geno's as well.

WRONG! You want as much positive castor as you can get!

Mine are maxed out at 2.8* positive and havent had one hint of death wobble...

Dodge has never put enough "front end" under the engines. My 98.5 went through ball joints about every 50k. thank God , Moog stands by their product.
Got to noticing that my front tires are wearing on the insde edges more than thru the middle

looks like here we go again.....

At 3.2 deg positive caster, my DW move from 75+ MPH to 55+MPH. With -.25 deg. caster, DW has yet to occur again at ANY speed on my truck. All of these trucks are different. Thats why they have adjustments and what not. Thats just my battle with it. Im sure yours will be diiferent.

All stock front suspension? Honestly, thats the first ive heard of negative castor being the trick for anyone, most have always maxed out positive castor and had good results...
