Re:Bigger Hammer?

Would be happy to spring for a really large DTR sticker if someone thought they could stick it on before it was dropped in Iraq. Could put &quot;with best wishes from&quot; above the sticker

Re:Bigger Hammer?

There are a bunch of residents of a certain town in Utah that have taken offense with the naming of that bomb.

Don't want to see their name plastered all over the papers when it gets dropped.
Especially if it accidentally takes out some friendlies, or civilians.

The petition signing is going full swing.

Just a little trivia for y'all.

(if you don't know what city, just think Easter Jeep Safari, Slickrock Trail, Mountain Biking, etc)

Re:Bigger Hammer?

The MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Blast) or as the Air Force refers to it, the Mother Of All Bombs is a ~22,000 lb guided munition. It contains ~ 19,000 lb of an ammonium nitrate/fuel oil/powdered metal slurry. The video I received had some 28 seconds of play time from the explosion to the end. My guess is the observers had to be 6+ miles from the explosion. If the explosion is anything like the 1750 lb FAE we built for demonstration, the fireball of the MOAB is gonna be around 1200-1500 meters in diameter. Looking at taking out at least two full grid squares. <br>Wonder if the Air Force is going to change the C-130 designation to B-130?

Re:Bigger Hammer?

Red, No laser required. It's GPS guided. Rumor Central has it that the AF is going to do a drop test on one filled with an Octol (or something similar) blend. By weight, Octol has, guesstimating, 6-8 times the punch of ammonium nitrate based explosives. The an is good for heaving a bunch of stuff and is cheap. Octol just eliminates it, period. However it's expensive. With octol, it might make a dandy shaped charge.(if 9.5 lbs of octol will punch through a tank, what will 9.5 TONS of the stuff do?)
