Adaptive strategy?

Does the 48RE have any shift learning capabilities to it? If so, how would one reset the values of a previous owner?

The 48re does not have an adaptive learning capability like the Allison 1000 and the 5r110 in the Ford. It takes throttle input and road speed mainly in making the shifts. There are some aftermarket shift enhancers that allow you to change the parameters a bit, but still not the adaptive learning.

So it would be safe to say pulling the battery cables and discharging the capacitors in the system would net you nothing? Does the engine ECU itself have any learned values?

You're right on the money with the Allison comment, my last auto was an Alli

You can reset the TTV motor on the 04.5 and newer trucks by doing that, but that is about it.

The TTV motor is on the side of the transmission and it basically dictates the rise and fall of main line pressure in the tranny. To reset it you remove the battery cables for 15 minutes then hook them back up. Turn your key to the on position, but don't start it. Leave it for about 45seconds and you are done.

I read the 2nd gen you need to push the accelerator peddle to the floor and release slowly, does this need to be done on my 04.5?
