Accelerator Pedal Problem
Ok, got the year part down, broke down again yesterday pulling the boat, this time, it would only idle and not move. Went away after an hour of shut off. Started normal and drove fine after that. Very frustrating since it was 104 degress in Ada Ok, time to buy some parts.
OK, I ordered the APPS from Timbo, (165.00) got here in 3 days. Installed a few days ago (pretty simple) truck seems good so far. I havent had a chance to tow yet and see if my dead pedal is done. Its been at the 2 hr mark of near 100 degree heat of highway towing when it justs quits,(x4) each time got worse, some pedal, until no pedal response at all. After a few hours of rest, like it never happened. Im a bit weary to try and break down again. Im towing my tractor this week, so we shall see. Either way, thanks for the help, this site is awesome. I will keep ya posted.
apps update, all is good. Towed few thousand miles already in the 100 plus heat, no more issues. Hard to believe that 165.00 part can make you worry that much. Should have changed it sooner. Thanks again to all. Jay
My 03's pedal position sensor just started acting up as well... check engine light has been on due to code P0700. ODDLY enough noticed the "dead" pedal issue shows up when temps are below freezing but if I plug in the block heater or outside temps rise into the 40's+ for a few hours the "dead" pedal issue disappears... thought I was out of the woods until I was driving the truck and the throttle jumped on me even tho my foot was off the accelerator pedal
bit scary to say the least... now I'm concerned driving it especially with passengers onboard!!!

I have an 04.5 2500 and I just replaced the APPS and my truck is still acting up. While driving I either have no throttle or full throttle, (gains throttle slowly). Once I let off accelerator slightly to decrease RPM's it shuts throttle down completely. I'm not sure what else could be the problem. Any ideas, thank you!
When I installed the new apps on my truck, the pedal response returned to normal. I recall there being a learn procedure or a certain procedure for installing the apps properly... I believe some trucks required the aid of a OEM or aftermarket scan tool to make the procedure a bit easier..it's been awhile since I did the install and I'm by no means an expert on the subject.
You followed the installation instructions that came with your apps for your 04.5... correct? I know this sounds kinda lame, but it never hurts to double check all your work just in case something wasn't installed the exact way it needed to be. Also, if you haven't done it yet, you should do a code scan procedure and see if the OBD diagnostics finds anything. If you still can't figure out the problem after rechecking everything, don't overlook the possibility that the apps you bought could be defective... new parts defects are rare but it does happen... plus you never know if the part you got was used and abused and returned by someone prior to you purchasing it(?)

I did not receive any instructions on how to install, dealership told me that you just unhook old one and then reinstall new one. Said to take the truck to oreillys or to the dealership and they can erase all the codes. After replacing the APPS I took the truck to oreillys and had the codes erased. Truck drove better but after it sit for 2 weeks it is worse now than ever. Is the reset at dealership better than oreillys? Also I had several codes that showed up before replacing the APPS and the only one showing up now is p2121. I did purchase the APPS sensor at the dealership for around $530.00, and they told me that there is no warranty because I brought the part home and put it on my self. The best I could tell by looking online, I done the procedure to learn the APPS. If I take it to dodge and have the p2121 code erased what's the chances that it would fix the problem?
The dealership no doubt has the best tools for the job but its likely going to cost you, plus I'd be surprised if clearing that last code would actually solve the problem.
Take a look at the link below and you'll get a better understanding of what I'm talking about re the apps "learn procedure". I know it's no the proper procedure for you 04.5 but it gives you some idea of what I'm talking about, plus there's some other helpful info there as well. After you skim through the info, try a google search for apps "learn procedure 04.5 Ram" and you should find more specific info.

I found some of Timbo APPS but a little curious how it works. Found one that replaces the APPS under the battery, and if I read it right it hooks up in the same area just has an extra wire that hooks into the #16 pin on ecm. But my question is how do you hook up the throttle cable to it. It did not look like it was able to have a throttle cable hooked to it. I have the 6 speed manual transmission. I have had the negative battery cables unhooked for a while now and a wire running from the unhooked grounds to the positive post to drain all capacitors. Fixing to reinstall negative cables and try to reset APPS to the computer again.
