AAMCO Tranny service

I don't know about the +4 but I know that if you put regular dex in a small chrysler tranny that calls for 8176 it will burn up the torque converter and do bad things to the clutch's. I don't want to admit were I worked for a few months right out of college, but I have seen it happen. And I don't know if I recommend you tell the dealer about your incorrect fluid that was flushed in there though. They may frown on you for any future trans warranty claims, god forbid anything ever happen. But I do recommend you get that fluid out of there ASAP. Just my 2 pennys worth.

I also had Aamco install a shift kit, and to my pleasure, the job was done right, on time, and at a lower price than they quoted!!! They also threw in a container of Lube Guard. Conclusion: They might be the exception or not, but they left me with a VERY favorable impression.

I used to be a service manager for NTB and we did the tranny flushes. We could NOT flush a dodge tranny that specified +4 fluid w/o using crysler spec. fluid. This was a no-no and would result in disciplinary action. So......it can't be a good thing. If I were in your position (and having knowledge of how service garage's work). I would make AAMCO send the truck to a 3rd party tranny shop (think cottman's) and have them certify that it's OK. Then also take the truck to the dealer and have them certify it as OK. Somewhere (either AAMCO or dealer) get all fluid replaced w/ +4 and have them completely flush the system and install a new filter.
Our particular shop had to follow a similar procedure when one of our techs mistakenly drained tranny fluid thinking it was the oil (and then failed to check the oil level....thereby adding 4 qts. to a already at capacity car). Needless to say....he was terminated.
