Is the 70MPH 48RE drone/vib gone on the 2006-2007's?
What drone are you talking about? I have almost 24 thousand on my truck and usually drive between 70 and 75 and don't have any vibrations or drones at all. Now, if you want to talk about the sqeeky rear slider
my 04 4x4 with 4:10 had an annoying resonance somewhere from 65~70.
it remained after the switch from OEM BFG to OEM Michelins at ~60k.
i think it is just the symphony of the 4:10 gears, front axles, driveshaft,
and transfer case & rear drive train all twirling merrily along.
my 06 4x2 rides like a mini van with a BFM - no issues & great MPG
pretty sure it has 3:73 since no 4:10 on sticker.

Many of you may remember the infamous "70 mph vibration". I think that is what he's talking about. No, it is not really present in the new trucks. Some other, similar, issues have popped up with the megacab. That's more of a drone than a vibration though. The 70 mph vibration was generally caused by the front vibration being out of alignment from what I saw. I had an 04.5 4x4 dually that did it, and it was fixed by replacement of the front driveshaft. In short, I would not be too worried about that kind of problem on the new trucks. However, you would be well advised to test drive at highway speeds any truck you're considering buying.
