ATF+4 is definety what Dodge calls for in the G56. There are fluids that claim to meet ATF+4 specs (like the amsoil) but are not actually labeled ATF+4 that are fine. Since your out of warranty on powertrain it doesn't really matter if you run an actual atf+4 like mopar or valvoline or one of the ATF+4 compatibles like the Redline C+ or Amsoil universal ATF.

And yes its 14mm allen to drain and when filling i pump it full until fliud comes out teh fill hole, then jack up the passengers side of the truck and add another 1/2 quart or so.

I did look it up and it is ATF-4 fluid that it uses. Same fluid is used in the powersteering resevoir. Intresting! Thanks to all for your input, I will be changing it this coming weekend

I also use a 3/8 or 1/2 " hose I connect to the bottle then run it down along the engine turbo side and squeeze the bottle in and it works pretty sweet, no mess or fighting

Ive heard guys switching to gear oil in their G56's with great success, smoother shifts and less gear noise, just something to ponder.

How long have they been running that fluid? The only thing that worries me is the detergents. Dont know if they will have a negative effect on the internal componets. I can see how it would shift easier. I think I will look deeper into this.
