Is there anyone who has performed this swap? Is there any of the big shops out there working on such a kit, ie, Suncoast, ATS ect...?
I have heard good things about the new transmission and would be interested in a swap when my auto finally goes south.

it will bolt right up. BUT- No one has a stand alone computer to operate it.
plus no one has good enough parts to make it past the 550-600 hp range yet.

i was interested in this exact same thing before i did my tranny rebuild. Have the 6 speed auto would help so much with the 04.5-06 trucks. I think this will eventually be a kit, but there is alot of R&D first

well Suncoast and PCS has teamed up to build a stand alone controler to operate the 48RE behind anything. There are only a couple out there that are behind the 6.7 right now because the 48 is proven to handle big numbers. the 68 is weak and no one is making high HP goodies for it yet. Been out for 3 years now so who knows how much longer it will be before they do build high HP goodies. Opie told me directly that he is not even going to touch these tranny's as for aftermarket shafts, drums, etc...

I love the stock power of my truck, just want more gears. To me the perfect route would be a Eaton 6 speed after that would be a Goerend 48RE with a gear vendors OD. I love the 3.73 with the Auto for empty highway running. But they suck for towing. 65mph and 1700rpm in OD seems to lug the engine. If I drop it out of OD I turn 2300-2400 rpm and mileage drops to 8.5MPG.

there is a guy on youtube that did a cummins conversion on his cheby and did an eaton 10 speed behind the 5.9. shiftin like a fool but with that kind of selection who cares. best of both worlds, tow, highway, low rpm driver chooses.
Yeap, the 3.73 gear are killing you. Go with 4.10's and a tranny upgrade and it will be a night and day difference.
So the tranny first and see if you can live with that. If not, then change the gearing.
