6 Speed Trans
Re:6 Speed Trans
I finally got my truck last night and so far in 170 miles it doesn't exhibit any of the sounds or shifting issues mentioned here. It goes into all gears easily and doesn't make any odd sounds. The truck was built March 6th. It's the 3500 QC shortbed SRW 4x2.

Vaughn
Re:6 Speed Trans
I drove 2 or 3 trucks with 6 speeds before buying mine. One thing I definetly noticed was each shifted and sounded different. One had a definite, ""Gurgle" or slight clash when going into 3rd. The others, just did not seem smooth. The one I bought is smooth in all gears, so far.

I do have a vibration at exactly 2000rpm. However, if I turn off the AC it goes away. I am going to talk to the service manager this week about it.
I have the same 2000rpm shudder.

The guys with the big rigs have one thing in common to say about the Cummins. Re:6 Speed Trans
Has anyone contacted New Venture (believe they make the transmissions) for additional information. I have seen numerous posts regarding whine, etc with the early six speed transmissions but lately most of the information indicates that they are having fewer problems. Hope that is the case as my new baby is being built as I type this!! Due to be shipped on 4-10. ;D
