6 Speed Trans
6 Speed Trans
I have the 6 speed trans, at about 60 mph and higher it has a humming noise.I just got back from dealer, tech hears the noise but is not sure what it is.Does anyone else have this problem? If so what was the cure? ???
Re:6 Speed Trans
You can isolate the noise by changing the variables. Is the noise the same in all gears? More noise in one gear? Let off the throttle, or coast in neutral. Noise gone? Different roadway? Wind direction? Many things will influence a noise in a vehicle. Sometimes exhaust will cause a vibration or drone that is picked up by some people more than others. My 6spd whines in 4th gear worse than 5th or 6th. Not enuff to bug me or worry about tho. Are your tires agressive tread? this will also cause noise, as well as vibration. Let us know what you find. Good Luck

It does it under throttle. If I let up on petal it goes away.Cold or warm it doesn't matter.I haven't tried it with clutch in or out of gear. I'll try that tomorrow. It seems to be a speed thing, only in 6th gear. I never had it up to 60mph in 5th gear.

I believe the front axle and driveshafts turn all the time. Gonna hafta remove the front driveshaft and then drive it.

Mine use to go away when the mileage was lower. Now that the milage is higher it stays around. I am just beyond the 3000 mile mark.

Do you also have a difficult time shifting from 1st to 2nd gear? Mine does. It will not go into second if I single clutch, it will go in with a slight grind if I double clutch. The only way to get to 2nd without refusal or grinding is to wait 4 seconds then enter 2nd gear.

If it has a clutch brake (and I don't know whether it does or not), pushing the clutch to the floor engages it and will make shifting very difficult. Try pushing the clutch in just slightly past the point where it disengages, not to the floor.
