5 Star for Warranty?
5 Star for Warranty?
My truck needs some work - I think it needs a front wheel bearing. Should be covered under the 7/70. Should I take it to a five star dealer or doesn't that make much of a differance. BTW, I'll be taking it in for service in the New Stanton PA, area. Anybody recommend a dealer there?
Can't recomend a dealer in your area but I can caution you that one of the last times I went to a 5 Star dealer it cost them $1500 to repair the damage caused by "Poor workmanship" done at my 5 Star dealer. I would ask around about the quality of the repair with anyone that knows anything about the dealer. If your repair is under the 3yr/36 month should be no charge, if it under the 7/70 drivetrain than a wheel brg will be $100 deductable. If engine related 5yr/100k no charge 7yr/100k $100 deductable. And no matter what they all will try to get your $100. Friend just had lift pump done, 45K should have been done under the engine warranty no charge, they did it under the 7/70 and charged him the $100. Can't win no matter what. If in doubt call the customer care hot line prior to going in and question it prior to taking the truck in.
Mark,
The wheel bearings are NOT covered under the 7/70 warrenty. If you still have the 3/36, then you would have a $100 deductable. I had both of my front bearings replaced back in the spring to the tune of $1200. I was not happy !

If 5 star really means anything all the dealer I know would only have one and it would be a falling star . I like the truck but the warranty is a joke , I have been waiting over 2 months for a carrier bearing on mine . You got to give Ford credit they have spent millions on warranty work and due to that their mechanics get more practice and if you look you can even find a good one . My vote is do it yourself or take it some were you trust and you will be way ahead of any 5 star and you can put in better parts .
Not all dealers are five star. I think the way they get 5 star status is to have you fill out a survey on how your experience went, if the dealer gets enough good reviews they (DC) gives the dealer 5 star status.
my five star dealer was very concerned about the survey they sent me after my first service and when I bought the truck.
I think it has to do with other things to like buying experience, service etc...
I have a 5 star 5 mins from my house and was treated so bad that I drove 30 miles for good customer service!!
