5" Exhaust System for CTD

Those big 5" exhaust systems sound really good on a Gen-3 CTD "600", but I am curious as to how much low-end torque is lost with these "sewer pipes". The catalytic converter would be the limiting factor in trying to achieve a free-flowing exhaust. I assume the EGTs would be down a little and you might get a mileage bump, but I wonder if it's worth the money and time to install. I am also assuming that the engine management ECU has not been altered; no downloader or module.

I don't think 5" is necessary or desirable unless you're making lots of big-end HP.

Have you towed with the 5" MBRP system yet? Does it drone at highway speeds of 65-80mph? How much room do you have for an oversized spare tire?

Im guessing I have the same system as Rusty.....I wouldn't have it any other way. 310 shipped for a turbo back 5" was too hard to pass up. I didn't use the 5" downpipe that came with it, its chillin in my bedroom closet.

I like my 5" as well. Not necessary but it sure sounds good. No noticable power loss or gain for the most part. the down pipe on mine is 4" for maybe the first 4-5 inches off the turbo then steps up to 5" - no cat just a straight thru muffler - it sounds much better with the 6" rolled edge tip than without.

It is a neat tape, but my wife likes it more than I do, since she was read and easily understand then numbers.

I have not towed with my truck, since it just bought it a few weeks ago.

I highly doubt the 5" will hurt anything with the CTD power.
