I was in my local Wolly Mart today and Saw Rotella T 5/40 Synthetic on sale and it is STIll CI4+ oil. I am very happy with my Premium blue CJ and heard that the ROtella was moving to CJ very soon. I live in a very hot climate and tow frequently. However this Rotella Might offer better protection than the CJ blue and want whats best. Thanks for answering my questions! Just want to make sure it's OK for a hot climate...

 

The 40 on end gives you same protection on high end of temp. Syn doesn't respond to viscosity test as regular dino oil. Result you get a wider spread on range. IE: Flows better cold, flows the same hot. Use it and keep looking for bargains. The CJ Blue is just fine also.

You want whats best? Then you need Amsoil and a good Driftwood horse to rope off of!

 

My truck seeped out the rear pan Gasket when I had Amsoil in it. LOLOL And I DO HAVE a nice driftwood head horse! Are you Psychic???? LOLOL

OH yeah, I have never leaked a drop of oil out the pan gasket due to Amsoil. You may just have soom under torqued bolts.

 

I have yet to see any leaks around my oil pan and I use Amsoil 5w30 HDD. Anyway 5w40 synthetic is an approved year round oil to use in your engine but I would also pull an oil sample at 7500 miles for testing to see how well the oil is holding up in your engine.

 

Thanks everyone. I will probably go to the 5/40 Rotella on my next oil change. I am just thinking that it might protect better than the Val Premium blue CJ stuff, but I only leave it in 5,000 anyway, so might not be worth the extra $$$.

 

Those pans are glued on and sealed.Usually any oil seepage is from the bolts.A little tightening and its usually cleared up.Don't see any reason brans of oil in normal conditions would have a affect.Most good ropers ride something with Drift or Hancock blood.Actually you mentioned it once before.I just remembered LOL.Should have bet you on that one.
