4WD shift lever flopping the breeze.

Just went to use 4WD low on my 03 2500 to help back up my camper in the sand and low and behold the lever just flops in the breeze.

I can't get under just yet because of the rain and sand but I'm guessing there is a single lever that connects the lever to the transfer case?

When I get a chance to get under the truck what should I be looking for?

Thanks

Ron

There is a grommet on the linkage under there that has a tendency to fall out and render the lever useless. If that is the case, you'll just need to replace/reconnect and you'll be back in business.

You guys were right, one of the rubber bushings on the end of the linkage rod was gone and the rod was only being held on by the front control arm and the bushing/grommet. And that one was almost completely gone, had that one broke I would have lost the control arm.

I made up a temp replacement from a rubber foot from an old radio and I got it to work but I like to get factory replacements for the front and back, where do I look for them?

Is there a detailed parts list I could look at with part #'s?

Thanks for you're help.

Ron, glad you found it. The transfer case model is (I'm 99.9% certain w/o looking under your truck) is the model 271.

Here is a chrysler parts diagram that may give you a lead: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...ssembly=665244

From the part numbers supplied on that diagram, you may cross reference at your local supply house, and likely get a cheaper price than those shown on that particular site.

Edit: I noticed a google of "271 transfer case linkage grommet" brings up a result that may help: http://www.amazon.com/02-05-TRANSFER...sim_sbs_auto_1

Obviously crosscheck your parts.
