48re service manual
48re service manual
I was wondering anyone has a service manual for the 48re or a diagram of the overdrive accumulator. I put mine back in and i think forgot a spring which i did not see come out. If anyone can help it would be great thanks.
Or if you know where i can download one for cheap or free that would be good too.

Well, Here's a picture that shows it, taken from my write up on another site.

Now, the skinny green spring you see on the top is part of an HTS valve body mod, stock is just the fat spring on bottom.
Here's a link to the whole article.

ok thank you very much for the pic, so i should only have the fat spring on the bottom correct? I thought i was suppose to have an upper and lost it. How do you like your valve body? I think i am going to just replace this one with the transgo kit real soon.
Also another problem is my guage cluster doesn't register that i am in park when i put it in park. I think the cluster is off by one gear when i move the shifter. How do i adjust this? The one line under the steering column?
Sorry for the late reply.
Has it always done this? Or is this something new with the VB removal?
Not sure where the signal comes from for what gear it is in to light the park light. Maybe someone else knows?

Well, as far as I know, there are only 2 electronic things on the shift shaft.
One is the Neutral/Park safety switch (Goes thru the side of case.) The other is on top of the shaft and keyed to it. I believe it may be a shift position sensor.

In the picture above, the Neutral/Park safety switch is the Black device, you can see the Shift position sensor directly above it. (Large Silver looking thing).
Here's a better pic.

Do you have these on your tranny?
If so, check the shift shaft and the bottom of the shift position sensor. they should be keyed, is it installed and aligned correctly?
If you can start your truck in Neutral and Park, I wouldn't think it would be the Neutral/Park safety switch.

yeah the top one is the gear indicator because when i had it disconnected i was stuck in first while moving the gear selector. The problem is the shift kit had me replace one rod which is attached to the gear selector arm so it was lengthened i think. So i need to adjust it just a tad, if i slam the gear selector in park it will just barely light up in park on the cluster. If i put it in gently it reads reverse. So i think i will mess with the one thing under the steering wheel to see if that makes a difference. I am pretty sure thats where you adjust it.
