48RE Question?

If you drove this tranny (in a new 5.9) just like a car (ie) no mods, no trailering, 80% interstate driving, no heavy pedal and perform the regular scheduled maint. Could you go 200k with out any problems?

I have 153K on mine now, with added power for the last 50K - no problems! Keep the fluid and filter changed.

I swapped a unit out of an 04 hotshot rig that had 414K on it. Only reason he lost it was that the output speed sensor had been leaking pretty bad and he ran it low on fluid and welded the intermediate shaft to the OD piston retainer.

I have 145k on mine towing 24k trailers all the time.
I did put in a DTT valve body at 130k because I wanted to fix the crazy shifting. No other work.

just do the routine maintenance and it should be solid for that long.

I'm not a synthetic nut...but I do believe Synthetic AFT does extend the life of a factory tranny by better lubricating it during those time when tranny temps do get above 200*.
As said above, do the maintenance, with a tendency towards overkill, and you will get 200,000 out of it. Especially with 80% Hwy miles. I would expect more!
