48RE band adjustment

I had my 07 5.9 in the shop a couple of weeks ago and I asked the service advisor if band adjustment was part of the 30k transmission check and change of fluid. He said that not "all" 48 RE's had band adjustment. Any validity to this statement? As I have said in the past, I do not like or that matter trust dealerships reference actually fixing problems.

Yes, they all have bands that can be adjusted, he probably just didnt want to do it.

You might not need to, if they trans is still shifting ok and you arent towing too heavy, id wait till 60k-90k if everything is still shifting fine...

I am interested in this too. My 03 shifts too soft. I was wondering how to make the shifts a lot firmer. I will be doing a TC, VB and billet input shaft in the future. I was looking for something I could do now to firm up the shifts.

If you already had it serviced I would leave it till the next service unless you are having problems.

unless a lot has changed the front of the od trans is basically the same from 1962 on. if one snugs the band and then backs it off 1.5 to 2 turns there will never be a problem with sec. gear band until it wears out. i built them for 40 years even raced them for a few and that worked for me.

Mine has 60k on it and the only thing I have done is a fluid change. How would I go about having the band adjusted? Will this improve the shifting?
