48 RE service-WOW

Serviced the trans on my 06,changed the filter ,adj the front and rear clutches as per JOES instr.THANKS JOE!.Only 35000 miles on the truck ,with fairly heavy towing, should i do it or not.Phoned the dealer, said they are all computerized, don,nt need any adj, hmmmmm!!! Guys this thing shifts like it never did ,even from new. There is no pause at all between shifts,as before,i would have,to let off before it would shift, now it just hauls on level 3,very very smooth!I WAS AMAZED AT THE AMOUNT OF ADJ,thought i was doing something wrong,it finally got to the 72 lbs per inch.If your trans is not shifting properly this may be an area to look at.The tranny fluid was still in good cond.tHE INFO IS GREAT ,THANKS GUYS.

Gone to recycling, still a bright red ,no burnt smell, had the little Lady check it,she said its okay,i,m not one to argue.ian515 , highly rec doing it, not difficult at all, look under servicing your 48re,takes approx 7 litres ,this is filter and pan only, about 15-16litres if you do the torque converter,i did only the aforementionedand will suck out another 8litres and add next month, rather than drop the pan,the improvement is unbelievable.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Glad you got great results. Now for the bad news. Remember the adjustment on outside you made. Tighten screw down to 72 in# and back off X turns and lock jam nut. When threads no longer protude beyond jam nut, the KD or second gear band is WORN OUT. Futher driving will only make expense of repairing greater. For your information and reference. JMHO
