3500 milage
3500 milage
I've been visiting on here for a while. Decided to join up. Not a diesel owner right now but may be soon. Had to retire early. No skills except the job I had for 25 years. Was thinking about Hotshot driving since we have 4 in our general area and two have been asking me to do it part time for last two years. Need to drive either a 2500 or 3500 truck with 8' bed or longer to get the most loads. Most of the mpg's answer's are coming from the 2500 truck owner's. I am looking at this as my daily driver and work truck. Will haul 1 to 1500 lbs. for now but, have been offered job later to haul trailers from 5th wheel, horse, and gooseneck for oil company once I get more experience. Need to do this for 10-12 more years.
So what are the 3500 driver's getting for mileage empty and pulling?? Truck will be 2007.5, 5.9 diesel, 8' bed, dually.

I have a 2007 with a 5.9L mega cab.
I have 7K miles on it.
Average highway unloaded @ 70-75 mph around 17-18 mpg.
Towing car trailer with a 4runner on it (country roads no highway, I think I got around 13-14 mpg) up and down acceleration 25 mph to 45 mph.
Hope that helps...good luck.
I have no mods.....yet

I get 16-17mpg at 72-74mph with about 800lbs under a truck cap. On 2-lane highways, I get about 18mpg at 62-64mph. In the city, I get 13-14mpg. Towing, I will get anywhere from 10-14mpg depending on speed and conditions.
If you are looking at a "2007.5", it will have the new 6.7l motor. The ".5" designates the new motor.
