Question 305hp motor?

I got a chance at a great deal on an 04 quadcab 2500 ctd with the 305hp@2900rpm motor build date 11-26-03. Anyone have any input on that motor (good or bad). I aint got a clue. Truck has 23000 miles on it, great cond. auto,I think its 410s 4x4. Dang close to current truck. Thinkin bout it for the wife!

Thanx in advance

I've got one. It's a great truck. I know there were a lot of changes with the 600 like you've got, but the 305 is a very highly regarded motor - that's why I bought mine.

Better FE with 555 engines vs. 610's due to emissions in 2004.5

Easy to go past it in power with addition of box.

If the truck checks out okay with you then my advice is buy that truck as fast as possible before another knowledgeable CTD buyer beats you to it!

I have the 305/555 in mine and it works just fine. As someone mentioned the mpg is a little better in this motor than the next motor.

It's on Hemmings 10 best list. Although this '05 is considerably quicker when you mash the go petal than my '04HO. The turbo spools real quick. Must be the full 4" exhaust? You can fix that though! + no CAT

Can't justify buying a newer one because it's as good or better than a 600. See gallery...
