3.73 OR 4.10 How do I know?
Is there an easy way to figure out which gear ratio I have in my truck VIN numbering?
I figure it has to be either a 3.73 or 4.10 At about 62mph the tach says 1900

Wow
Thanks for the quick response!!!
3.73 I'm good with that...
Side note
I suppose I should have said... the tires are 265/70/17
No sticker inside the glove box.. I guessing long gone.

Axle ratio
One way to determine the axle ratio is to raise one rear wheel and with the tire valve stem pointed toward the ground and a mark on the driveshaft. Turn the wheel one complete revolution and count the number of times the driveshaft turns. More than 4 turns - 4.10; less than 4 turns - 3.73
Limited slip you while have to raise both rear tires.

I bought a Ford once that had 3.73s or 4.11s installed. I had no intention of towing and had them swap axles with a different truck on their lot for 3.55s. I doubt it was ever updated in Ford's database and certainly not any of the stickers on the truck. To be 100% certain count the revs like dogger writes.
