Is there a big difference in fuel milege between a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton?

There shouldn't be any. I think the only real difference is the spring rates.

Clearance lights are mandatory, there is an extra set of overload springs in the rear, and the weight rating on the door jamb...

I get around 12 pulling the 5th wheel on average. Milage empty seems to depend a great deal on speed. Around 18+ if I'm over 70. Dropping to 60 will get 20-21 or better. That's with 3.73's.

Folks I have talked to with 04.5 and newer trucks seem to get slightly less, probably due to the cat/3rd injection, but speed and driving style seems to also make a big difference so it's hard to make a direct comparison.

Same here! I tow 6k daily and get 16.7+ flat land but in the hills 15+.

The ride is rougher in the one ton but I can haul a pallet of bricks and soften it to my liking!
