I have the same truck as that, with an auto tranny. I get around 14-15 in town and country road driving and about 18 or so on the highway. Those are honest numbers hand calculated. I need to update my spreadsheet but I have tracked every drop of fuel that has been pumped and I think I am around 14 for an average (includes towing miles)

These truck seen to differ a lot in MPG , I wish someone would figure out why . I can get 20 going down the highway with mine and average 16 to 17 around town . I have changed the crank shaft sensor and drilled out the bottom of the air box on mine and added the small Quad box for MPG all of which helped . My old 91 got 24 MPG average but that is the only thing I miss from that old truck and would not change back . I think a good torque converter change would help city driving MPG some and I have been reading that some are seeing a MPG increase after changing thier lift pumps , I havn't figured that one out yet . I have been waiting for someone who is testing one of Marco's Smarty programmer to talk about it's MPG feature instead of how it will smoke the tires .

I get 18-22 highwway empty. With trailer (12K) I get 10-12 tops. Around town driving I get 14-17 average. All hand calculated. Seems to be slightly better after lift and CP3 replacement. Also in Flordia so no winter fuel here that I know of like I usually get in Michigan. Small mods, Quad ZXT box and air filter and light footed 0 driving.

I get 14-18 depending how fast I drive on the Interstate. At 80mph I will get 14. In town I get 12-14 again depending on the throttle position.

I have a 6 spd and get about 16-17 driving a combination of city and highway. All city drops it to about 14-15 and all highway I get about 18-19. And that's with me 'playing' with it once in a while - there's just too much power not to use it every now and then....

Depends how fast I go, about 17 mpg @ 70, neighborhood of 20-21 @ 60. Got 14 pulling a trailer from OK to Iowa with no wind, got 11 pulling same trailer and probably 600 lbs of stuff in the box into a 35 mph headwind. This was running 75 mph for most of it.

Fuel mileage is one subject that has been beaten to death, just like Amsoil, synthetic oil vs dino, etc. Two different drivers can take the same truck and get vastly different fuel mileage. Depends on driving habits, like how hard you mash down on the go pedal at lights, how much you idle the engine, how fast you drive, etc. Your doctor neighbor is likely getting 20 mpg as he says. You may get more or less depending on how your driving style compares to his. JOIBO!

Too many differences. Which rear and, how do you drive, where do you live?
