2007 5.9 rough and erratic idle (sporadic)

I have a 2007 that I've only owned for about 2 months. Have most of the maintenance history, seems like the truck has been well taken care of. Yesterday and today, had a unnerving couple of experiences. While in stop and go traffic yesterday, engine suddenly started having erratic and rough idle...jumping up to about 1500 or maybe 1800 RPM. Lasted a few seconds, then stopped entirely. This morning it did it initially on startup, then quit again with nothing further. While it was doing this and a little while afterwards, I noticed the voltage gauge was moving a lot more than normal...going from over 14V to maybe 10V and did this 3 or 4 times before stopping at the normal ~14V position. Would this have to do with the heater grid cycling? No codes thrown.

Do not know if the lift pump was ever replaced. Based on maintenance records, I don't see that it has been done. Truck has 132,000 miles and is all but stock. PO said injectors 2 and 3 were replaced at 30k miles, injector 1 at about 100k miles. She told me that they were all recently cleaned, but I see no dealer record of that, so really not sure to what level it was done. One recent dealer maintenance record at 128k miles indicates rough running engine with no issues found.

Having said all of that, not quite sure where to look, or if it really even is an issue at all. However, since the lift pumps seems to be a source of some issues, should I look into replacing this? How do I know if it is in fact bad or going out? If my research is correct, the 2007 should have the lift pump in the tank...correct? If so, this also seems to make them more reliable...correct? Is it still advisable to move to an aftermarket setup?

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

did u ever get a reply on this? What did the problem end up being? The lift pump is in the tank which I'm sure you've found out by now.
