2006 High EGTs with EDGE J/A

So I've had my 2006 truck for almost 4 years no and the one thing that bugs me about the most is the high EGTs when compared to my 2003.

Now my 2003 was a 6spd manual with 4.10s and a 4" aftermarket exhaust. The 2006 is an automatic with 3.73s. The CAT is still there but gutted and the muffler was replaced with a large Donaldson.

With the 2003 when running empty unless the Edge was on 4 or 5 I couldn't hit 1400F. With the 2006 I can hit 1400F no problem on setting 1 even with the -20C cold temps we've been having.

Is this just a difference in the years of trucks or should I be looking at something. Both had similar mileage, 300,000kms. I've checked the turbo a few times and its tight, no sign of oil leakage. Hits 30psi no problem, I've seen it hit 36psi on a long hill pulling a load. Motor was replaced at the dealer around 200,000kms(before I owned it) but I'm guessing the turbo and injectors were reused.

The 2004.5-2007 5.9L Cummins do run hotter EGT's than the 2003-04 trucks.

I had a Edge Juice/Attitude on my truck for a bit way back when. It too ran really high EGT's.
My boost levels were similar to yours, which means your turbo is likely fine no boost leaks.

You are not running the Edge J/A from your 2003 truck on your 2006 truck are you? They are completely different and not compatible.

Nowadays, there are much better choices than the Edge J/A, especially for your 2006 truck.
I recommend to dump the Edge J/A and that mess of wires in your engine bay.

Even an older used Smarty handheld programmer is a much better choice than any interceptor box.

Of course, even a canned program with EFI Live, Smarty MM3, HPT or other options would be a huge improvement.

Thanks for the reply. I actually have a Smarty Jr. but quit using it as it made WAY too much smoke for my liking. I prefer to have as little smoke as possible.

I am using the proper edge on my truck. I've thought about going to something else but I really like the ability to change tunes on the fly.
