2006 engine install issues
Okay new to the site but didn't see anything like this when I was searching. I purchased a 06 2500 4 door, 4wd, st trim package. The previous owner had pulled the engine and a shop fire destroyed the engine parts so he sold the truck to me. I purchased a engine from a running, driving truck and had it delivered. The truck the engine came out of was a 2006 2500 reg. cab, 2wd and both have automatic trans. The problem I am having on the install, first time on a Dodge done quite a few over the years in other cars and trucks, so anyway I have the engine in the compartment and bolted to the trans. When I set the drivers side motor mount in the bolt cradle on the frame it lines up fine, however when I switch to the passenger side the engine needs to be tilted a few degrees down and towards the passenger side making the engine sit nose down a few degrees and the front is shifted to the pass. side a few degrees. WEIRD! The engine I got was a complete takeout and still had the engine mount brackets attached when I received it. I have no idea why this tilt and lean is happening and have double checked everything about 10 times. I researched to make sure the mount brackets that came on the engine are correct and the seem to be by the part numbers. Any ideas?
thanks
thanks
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I was told there is a difference between 2wd and 4wd engines. Not as far as the block but some of the other parts including the engine controller.
When I was looking at a motor from a bone yard vs. a rebuild they said you can't drop a 2wd into a 4wd truck.

Okay should have posted an update. After calling about 8 dealerships getting the same answer from all of them I double checked the part numbers they were giving me to what I have with the engine. Turns out that in 06 there is a different engine mount bracket for 2wd and 4wd. I had the 52021135aa on the engine and it calls for the 52021137aa. I called a few of the dealers back and they still argued with me that the bracket I have doesn't exist. Kinda funny. And with my luck the part I need is on back order with no shipping date listed. Thanks for your help.
