I currently have about 55,000 miles on my truck. I have noticed lately mostly during the morning when it is cooler out and I have just left the house at slow speed the transmission makes a whining noise. Same speed everytime. No slower no faster. Seems to be at about 10 to 15 mph and usually between 1st and 2nd gears. Whats up ?

 

Are you sure it's the transmission, and not something else? Maybe U-joints? That seems to be a common theme on here as something that needs to be replaced at around the 50,000 mile mark.

 

Make sure fliud is on the HIGH side hot.A little over filled won't hurt.Some D.C. auto get a noise through a valve in the valve body.If this dosen't help sounds more serious.How long since it had a flush with new fliud?

 

I have had a complete flush 2 times since new. Only does it when the outside air temp is lower, say 45F. and lower.

 

Make sure hot its a little over on the dipstick and see what it does.Low some d.c.autos make noise cold.Hot fliud expans and noise stops.Not heard of this on 48res but on the other RWDs I have.I run my 98 1500 a pint or more above full hot.
