2003 CTD with 47re tranny
Pulled the transmission pan and changed the filter on the 47re tranny and found a piece of metal in the bottom of the pan. Looks like it is part of a snap ring. Any idea where that piece of metal comes from?

Also the transmission that does not shift properly into third gear, i.e. the transmission shifts normally into first and second, but shifts only momentarily into third and then into overdrive. Any ideas what is going on?
Thanks for your help.

Off hand, OD clutch retainer snap ring. Could be the reason for the fast shift to OD. Either way, time to pull the trans and go thru it before it totally grenades.
