100,000 mile cummins warranty
A friend of mine took his 03 in for leaking freeze plugs. He has 40,000 on it they fixed the leaks and charged him a 100 dollar deductable.I told him they were not supposed to charge you that.It says in the warranty manual that there is no deductable on a truck that is less then 5 years old.Dealer told him they never herd of that and he showed him in the manual page 10,so they faxed it to DC.Its been a week and now they are saying they have to wait for the DC rep that will be down next week and he will look at that.He called the 1-800 # today and the guy on the phone said the same thing as the dealer. They are telling him they have to find out if its a misprint in the manual that came with the truck.Has anybody here had to deal with this before?
Nothing wrong with the dealer trying to cover there butts (there are plenty of con artists out there) I really don't know whether the deductible applies or not, but I don't think so.
Now even if DC comes out and it does state that in his owners manual, they should pay up, as if the manual is wrong, that's still DC's fault. I don't mind legit reasons for stuff, but if the book says it, and it's the one DC gave you with the truck, hey, you better get your 100 back.

the cummins engine warranty has no deductable. Has been this way for a long time. The added "incentve" powertrain warranty has a $100 deductable. Where a lot of dealers that dont sell alot of diesel trucks, or didnt in the past, get confused is that theres a $100 deductable for every other car or truck that dc makes that has a 7/70 powertrain warranty issue including engines. with one exception, diesel engines. There is no deductable for warranty issues for the diesel engine for 5 years or 100k. But, after 5 years and under 70k there will be a deductable.
Cummins does not warranty the engine dodge does. Dodge buys them without the warranty. Hence why it will cost you if you go to Cummins. Sorry for the
but it is spelled that way throughout the thread.
